Leia Won't Come Out on Monday Either

Something is upsetting my girl, but I have no idea what. Toby is completely unconcerned; for him it's all business as usual. This all started Saturday night or early Sunday morning. She simply won't come out into the living room. She'll go as far as the first few inches of carpet, then stop and look around like it's really scary in there.

Problem is - she has to cross the living room carpet to get to all the kitteh facilities. I thought need would eventually drive her out, and I could see she was feeling the need - but she still wouldn't cross the carpet. So I gave in late yesterday and brought the facilities to her.

I wouldn't be as concerned if she was still adjusting to the new house. Everything was fine and then yesterday happened. I do see signs she's improving; she came to me repeatedly last night for attention, and she's trying to paw aside the curtains to see outside. I hope in a day or two we'll get past this.

  2. That's a cat for yous! Me remembers when Hissy Old Licorice all of a sudden thought the light in the kitchen was a ballon (he was terrified of ballons) and he would NOT go in the kitchen. Mommy had to move the cat food to the laundry room.

  3. Paws crossed Leia will be OK...maybe if she got some playtime next to it she'd inch into the Living Room. Felix refuses to go into the laundry room, he says there are Evil Clowns in there.

  4. This reminds me of the time my human had an overhead fan installed in the upstairs hallway of the old house - we were all spooked by it! But eventually we all got used to it, and even learned to like the air it blew around.

  7. I'm sure she will get over it with some time and love. Sometimes we cats just get a weird idea in our heads.

  10. I can sometimes get freaked out by furniture movement or new stuff, or pans clanging... you name it. Purrs she gets better soon.

  13. Poor Leia! I wonder what is upsetting her so? For a while, my sister's cat Zoey wouldn't go into their living room, even though she never had a problem with it before. Zoey kept looking up at the ceiling, and we wondered if there wasn't some sort of sonic boom or explosion outside that she associated with that room. She eventually got over it, but we never figured the whole thing out...

We are sending our purrs and prayers that sweet Leia is better soon.
