Mancat Monday

We got a new roomie over the weekend. Thankfully Cornelius doesn't talk much. Or eat our noms. :)

Mom wanted to thank everyone again for the birthday wishes on Caturday.
When we asked how old she was, she said she hasn't quite been around since
dinosaurs had tea parties but not so far off.

And WE got the present - fried chicken!!

Here's hoping none of us get all melty this week.

Monday morning update:

Toby is not doing well. His arthritis, or whatever its cousin is, is progressively getting worse. This morning I watched him want to jump from the bed to the dressing table - a very easy jump - and all he could manage was the butt wiggle. Later I watched him work up to getting in the litterbox.

The vet says it's Tramadol - which he reacted badly to - or Medicam. The other meds are off limits because of other considerations but today when we go to the vet, I'm telling her to choose the best one for pain management and quality of life.

  1. Cornelius looks like a good chap. Hey, Leia, did Cornelius say something that precipitated that whap?

Glad Mom had a nice birthday (and that you kitties got some fried chicken ... yay)!

Have a nice week, and stay cool!

  3. Glad your mum had a good birthday. Toby, you introduced yourself nicely to Cornelius, but Leia is telling him his place.
I am sorry you are suffering with your arthritis, Toby. My mum said have you tried Glucosamine. She thinks it is available in liquid form combined with Chondroitin and MSM. She takes it in human pill form for her knee and says it works very well for her.

  7. Have you considered trying Adequan on Toby? We put Benny on it in early May and are pleased so far. We wrote a blog post about it if you're interested in learning more. http://aboutthecats.blogspot.com/2016/06/benny-and-adequan.html

  9. Hi Toby! Cornelius looks like a friendly fellow! Please tell your Mom happy birthday!

My Waddles was on Gabapentin for arthritis. That is in the same family of drugs as Tramadol, though. The vet also recommended some treats that were good for arthritis. I think the name was Glyco Flex. The vet said they really helped her cat. Unfortunately, Wa didn't like them so it was hard to get many into her. I hope Toby feels better soon!

  10. Hey, ho, Toby! It was mighty nice of you to post a picture of Leia on Mancat Monday! Was Cornelius up to mischief?
We will say a prayer for you. I hope the vet comes up with a good pain-reliever for you!
    Yours sincerely,
    Maggie T.

  11. Your mum must be younger than my peep 'cause I'm POSITIVE Peep #1 was around when the dinosaurs were here. Didn't know 'bout them havin' tea parties though. But it certainly explains the peep's love of the tea!
