Mancat Monday / Halloween, As Scary As It Gets

Toby: My furriends... something happened today... I can't even..... (flees the room, meowing incoherently).

Leia, watching him go:

Well, I guess it's up to me to share the news Mom told us today. Not that I blame Toby for his reaction, but one of us has to communicate with the wider world.

She told us today... well.... we are M O V I N G. Not just moving, you see, but M O V I N G. To some distant land called Tallahassee, Florida. We tried to explain that we are North Carolina kittehs, but it made no difference. She says she has to go, therefore we too have to go.

In December, we will be going for a very long car ride. I'm not sure but I think it will take, like, elebenty hundred hours to get there.

Hmm.... Toby, I think I will join you in your hiding place for awhile!

Tiny Tabby Girl Tuesday

Well, this was embarrassing...

Mom came home and caught us all snuggled up.

Not that *I* minded, you know. I like a good snuggle with my orange boy.

But he is...well... sensitive about such things.

Paging Ms. Cattorney! STAT!
I have a Flashy Beast Shenanigan suit to file.

Happy Caturday

Good morning, furriends. We hope everyone has a fine weekend.

WE are already wiped out and it's not even midmorning. We had to ensure mom got out the door to the car Stabby Place early, but darn it was tough. She fed us about 4:30 am and went back to sleep and then couldn't get herself up.

So we activated our famous Tag Team routine, alternating the Mom Get UP! Procedure. We purred, we head bonked and nose rubbed, one after the other.

And naturally we prevailed. But will we see any rewards? Ha.

Happy Caturday

We didn't intend to post today but Mom got VERY excited about a purchase this morning, so we decided to be gracious and do it anyway.

She found this at Petsmart, clearance, $15.99, regular $42.99.
She loves a bargain with a deep passion, so she snagged this (the last one).
It's actually for long hairs, but trust us, that didn't stop her at all.

My fur is thick and plush, and yes, hairballs are... well... a ladycat doesn't yak and tell.
So I lounged here and enjoyed a long salon session with my stylist.

Mom! You pulled off enough furs to make Leia her very own Mini-Me!
Oh, wait..... do we really want that?!

I got my turn too.

I kind of enjoyed it. My fur is really nothing like Leia's.
And my hindquarters are very sensitive with my arthritis,
so Mom was extremely careful with me.

Happy Caturday!

Finally Friday

Sheesh, Mom, can't a fellow have some quiet time?

ALONE?

Thanks. Turn off the light as you leave.

Well folks, we made it to Friday. For some of us, we had our doubts...
Mom says this should, hopefully, be a quiet weekend for us.

Enjoy yourselves out there, and stay safe.

Little Monroe, Newest Angel

Our furriends over at Random Felines lost their tiny foster orange boy, Monroe, on Tuesday. Please visit them if you can. They are very sad.

We here at The Whiskeratti extend our deepest sympathies for your loss, and also thank you for all the hard work you do with fostering cats and kittens. You bear many burdens doing this work, and on behalf of the feline community, you have our admiration and gratitude (as do all the other foster families out there).

Mancat Monday - I'M BACK!!!!

I'm glad to be back on MY regularly scheduled day. But we all know how GIRLS are. Gotta keep 'em happy, I guess.

This weekend was pretty eventful. Lots of noise outside - wind and rain. Mom says it was really awful. Leia and I stayed near her most of the time so she wasn't too anxious.

In other news, I'm eating well again. I still don't like having that medication twice a day
but it's working, and that makes Mom very happy.
She was putting in some serious OT to get me to eat enough.

We hope that everyone out there stays safe and dry and has lots of bottled water (if they need that).

Happy Monday!

Our Caturday Is... Matthew is Being VERY Rude

Mom says people here don't typically park on the lawn.

But she's grateful for the neighbors who were banging on doors to let us know,
hey, probably want to move your car!

If you biggify and look at that blue hatchback behind her car, you can see how high the water rose. And that car is about the same height from the ground as Mom's.

PS: It's only 1:54pm here. Many hours of rain left to go.

Finally Friday

Thank you all for coming along with me during my special week. It's been fun! I wanted to finish up the week by adding a few random Me Facts:

1. Mom says I'm a kitten half the time. I can break out with Spontaneous Playing anytime. No toy is safe from me!

2. T-----, I mean, that orange purrson, really is the great love of my life. I will snuggle up with him every chance I get, but he's often cranky about it. So very often I wait till he's sleeping and slip in next to him for some quality time.

3. Mom usually reads for awhile before she goes to sleep. I will come up and lounge on the window desk until she's ready. When she puts her book down, I hop over for some snuggling and purring before I tuck myself into a corner by the headboard.

4. I also come up after she finishes standing under the water to have some Girl Time. I feel it's very impawtant to have a well socialized hoomin, don't you?

5. I'm the brave one in this house. I have a strong startle reflex but I bounce back very fast. If we get a strange happening, I'm the first one down when it's over.

We hope everyone has a great Caturday. And that we all stay safe and dry out there.
Mom says there is a cranky storm named Matthew who is being very rude right now.

Very Wordy Wednesday

Today, I'm going to share the Story of Leia. (That's me!).

Almost twelve years ago, Mom needed a companion for... y'know, that orange person I'm not naming because this is MY week... so she went to the Stabby Place because they had a ladykitten who needed adoption. I was on the counter in a small PTU so people could see me. It has taken many years for me to not be traumatized by having to go into a PTU too.

I had just been returned that morning from another home. A lady had taken me but she had other furry folks there; I was so scared I climbed the drapes so I got returned. But it was noisy and crowded! It was awful. But then my REAL Mom chose me, and after I'd been spayed, I moved home. She said he, and I, were just that right age so she wouldn't bring me into the house until after I'd Graduated.

Me in my early days.

It wasn't so great at first. I got chased under a chair and stayed there for a long time, because SOMEONE was totally jealous. But eventually that all got worked out; this home was much quieter and nicer, and Mom gave me all the space I needed to adapt. I wasn't too sure about her either, then.

A year later.

But now it's great. We're a family, I think Mom is splendifirous - I luff our girl time! - and I am definitely Princess of our household. I dispense nose rubs and head bonks to her on a regular basis, and I luff to sleep on the pillows with her too.

And that is the Story of Leia. Happy Wednesday!

The Week of Leia

and that starts today! Mancat Monday, move over. Go, scooch.

That's better. Here I am, enjoying the week that will be ALL Leia. Because I got totally cheated last week, especially on Caturday.

Anyways... I've been spending more time on the couch cushions lately. Usually I'm hanging out on the top corner, just above where I am now. But now that fall is here, I'm feeling the need to snuggle in by this plush blankie.

And now, if y'all will excuse me, it's time for my next nap.

It's Caturday

Mom, am I not the fairest in the land (of Whiskeratti) ? Why can't I have this day?.... Fine, I'll let you and Toby have it. But I want special treatment next week!

Thank you, Leia, you are a generous soul.

So, back to the vet today, for Toby's arthritis shot. I tried the Medicam drops but since I can't actually see how many drops I'm putting in, and that is critical, it just wasn't working. And I think he was hurting a fair amount.

While there, we discovered that he's also... hyperthyroid. Of course. Why wasn't that included in the blood work from TWO WEEKS AGO??? I assumed it was, but no. And he's lost weight since that visit too. Anyway, I now have a diagnosis for the weight loss and pills for it.

Recheck in four weeks for this. Recheck in 6 more weeks for the heart.
These visits are turning my sweet orange into a monster. While there, he growls and hisses and pants.
He's tired of being poked and prodded and being forced into the PTU/car rides.
If you will, please purray for us - endurance, and strength to get through all that we must do.

Happy Caturday to all.
