New Things Thursday

Mom, we don't need anything else in this house!
We can't believe you brought home one more useless ---

Oh wait.

Y'know, this chair is actually kinda pawsome.

Leia, I think we should have a Kitteh Conference about this...

We decree - this chair is acceptable, and relevant to our interests.

You may keep it after all.

Mancat Monday

I have a plan! And it's a good plan, too. I'm going to stop this silly nonsense about moving, and I've already started. I'm with Mom all the time, following her, and every time she sits down - which I encourage by being so absolutely adorable - I snuggle and purr and rub my head against her.

I even allow her to rest her head on me when she watches tv, thereby increasing the time she's NOT working on move business. And we can't move if she can't get stuff done. So, see, it's purrfect.

Leia isn't convinced of the brilliance of my plan, but I'll show her.

Happy Monday.

Finally Friday

Greetings to all !

I've been super busy doing... stuff.. but today I'm guest posting, on account of I'm being tucked away in this box. The Lady says I gotta get packed up like everything else, but I don't see why I can't ride in the car with the people.

Species-ist, that's what this is. I hear the really big Mr. Frog gets to ride in the car, unboxed. How unfair is that?!

But at least I get to pair up with my cool lion friend, so I won't be alone. I'll be in this box for about a week. Then it's fresh air and sunshine again.

PS: We here at The Whiskeratti hope everyone had and is having a great holiday weekend.

Easy Like Sunday

Although as felines, we like to take it easy every day of the week, there is something especially special about Sundays for doing this, don't you think?

And I think I will do mine on this pawsome new table Mom just bought for us yesterday. It's pub height, so I can't really jump, but Mom arranged the chair so it's right between table and couch; a bit of a hop and I'm there! (I heard a rumor that when we get to the new house, the table will not be accessible for us felines, but I'm sure that's just crazy talk).

*******

Today we would like to remember our woofie cousin, Max. He was a special fellow, full of energy, and utterly devoted to his Mom, our Auntie Mary. He was also very intelligent and had a wicked sense of humor. He came to our family as a puppy, and was with his mom for a great many years;  he left for the Bridge on the Thursday before Thanksgiving 2014.

He had a great passion for pulling socks off feet, and once even pee'd on our Mom's leg! No one was ever really sure why he did that, though of course Max knew. She and Auntie Mary were sitting outside and he sauntered up and bam. Max, you were a fine fellow and are still greatly missed.

Finally Friday

As part of my ongoing efforts to ensure proper packing, I've moved my base of operations to the upstairs closet.

I did a great job with the kitchen, and now I'm confident I can bring the upstairs to a successful -- No, Leia, *I* am the Senior Project Coordinator here !!! You go away and find your own project.

Mancat Monday

Well, my furriends, I marched up to my Mom recently and used the same heavy-pawed tactics I used in the Stabby Place. I gave her what-for and DEMANDED she abandon this nonsense about moving. And it .... worked about as well as you'd expect.

Moms are tough.

So I'm doing the next best thing. I'm supervising the packing. Until she put away the ladder and now I can't get up there. Drat.

Ah well, it tired me out anyway.

Happy Monday.

Finally Friday

Ah, furriends, how bitter is betrayal!

Oh, she swears she didn't enjoy it at all, but WE know the truth.

She petted the kitten for adoption at Petsupermarket. A tiny 6 week old tot, being quite the forward hussy with OUR mom. Nibbled on her finger, too.

Hmpf.

PS: Thank you to all our veterans.

Thoughtful Thursday

Peace reigns in the House of Whiskeratti.
aka the Flashy Beast strikes again.

Mom has a message she wants to share, and for once we are in whole-pawed agreement,
so we're turning it over to her now.

To all those who visit our blog, we give thanks. Right now, America is either in a state of shock or exhilarated. And we are very much afraid this is going to result in many fractured relationships of friends, families, co workers, neighbors. Shades of the Civil War, brother against brother.

I'm not a political person, or a deep thinker, or a great debater. I live, and learn, and act, with my heart, and my imagination, not my mind. I live in a small, internal, introverted world. My cats are my focus and my great joy. Thus, the cat blogosphere is of great importance to me. To that end, I urge - I plead for - calm, deep breaths, and maybe more deep breaths, before actions are taken.

Very recently my region lived through Hurricane Matthew. And it was nasty. In less than 24 hours we got enough rain for four Octobers. The stories, the pictures... awful. An Army officer here took a kayak and a video camera and recorded the flooding downtown. It was up to the tops of street signs. Cars were completely submerged. It was utterly surreal.

In the days following I kept wishing it could all be back like it was before Matthew. But, eventually, most of it has passed. Not all. Some damage will take months to repair, some will never get fixed. Mostly now, though, it's calm. Daily life goes on. People helped each other, stranger for stranger.
As a group, we became stronger for the struggle and the challenges.

And so it will be again for our nation. And our communities. This, too, shall pass.

Happy Caturday

Well, in theory, anyway. Today Toby had to go to the Stabby Pl----

Toby, tapping paw on Mom's arm

Let ME tell it this time, you always make me sound like a wussy fraidycat, Mom.

Mom Uhh... ok... go for it.

Thank you. takes a moment to groom some chest furs to ready himself. So here is what happened, without any Mom embellishments, ok? I swaggered into the waiting room at that awful place, NOT afraid to show it *I* was boss. I DEMANDED immediate access to the staff so they could get me done in record time. They COWERED before my orange might, truly.

It was a thing of beauty, you should have seen it. Anyways, they said my thyroid levels are now purrfect, and after a group discussion - yes, I certainly took part in my OWN medical care decisions - I'm on pill form Predisone instead of the Depo shot every five weeks. On account of steroids not so good for heart conditions, which was probably caused by the thyroid condition. And my weight has increased by a pound!

Ok, so it's true that I stuck my head under Mom's arm while we were waiting for the blood results, but ONLY because it was noisy in there. I wanted to protect my manly, yet delicate, ears.

And then we came home and I sauntered upstairs to have some quiet downtime UTB. But only because I was tired of all the fussing and this was the quietest environment. Now I'm rested up and planning on... planning on.. doing something darn manly, I tell you what.

How's that, Mom?

Mom Um.... I think SOMECAT has been texting with Binga, that's what I think!

PS:

We wanted to share about Hazel, a very tiny ladycat. She's only five pounds, but is about a year old. We met her in the waiting room; she had been found by a lady who already had four cats of her own, but lured her with food until she was able to get her safely inside her house and brought to the vet for testing and vaccinations. We are so grateful that one more kitteh is off the streets, due to the kindness of a hoomin. Bless you!
