Furriends, you will not believe what my hoomin did to me. There I was, just relaxing on this beautiful Caturday morning, minding my own business, when she grabs me and stuffs me into the PTU (let me remind you of how ugly and girly it is, too!) and puts me in the stupid car.

Do I look like I want to go for a car ride to you? Really???

Oh, and it's cold out there. She had to take me from my nice toasty warm home and stick me in a cold car and DRIVE? Anyway, we get there and it goes fast, I guess... We met a girl kitteh there with my name, which was weird, but Mom says a girl can be called Toby too. And there was a great big German Sheppard woofie who didn't want to go back there anymore than I did.

The Stabber at the Stabby Place said I was in good shape, though she had to clean my ears out. Oh and... I'll have to watch this... they started talking about my weight. I am a wonderful 22 pounds, so what is wrong with that, I ask you? But it's never good when the 'rent and the Stabber start talking weight, guys. Just not good at all.

And the worst part? I think Leia is laughing at me for having to go. RATS!

The War Continues

Furriends, the War on Fleas is not going as well as we'd hoped. Our initial strategy was progressing very nicely, but the enemy regrouped and struck back. So now we've entered the trenches to duke it out.

Mom is determined that we will emerge victorious, so she's been adding to our arsenal with daily vaccuming, mopping of hard floors, flea combing multiple times every day. She's stripped our house of as many hiding/laying egg places as possible: pillows, drapes, heavy bedding. Anywhere and everywhere the nasty buggers can hide, we're hitting them.

Wanna hang out in a crevice? No problem! She's got cleaning attachments for that. Entrenching your bitey little butts in the furry blankie? Just try it. It's being washed and tucked away in plastic till this is over.

We do draw the line at chemical warfare, except for Advantage. Mom gets the heebie jeebies over chemicals. She's so worried we might get poisoned or something.

PS: We're sending out very strong purrayers for Ginger and family. He has some medical issues.

The War on Fleas continues. We're winning!! Mom gets after us constantly with the flea comb now, checking and rechecking for those nasty buggers. I liked the comb right away, but Leia needed time to get used to it. This morning she was really into it. Except for her little head. She doesn't like the comb on her head.

Ok, it's not quite Friday but almost! Our Mom has something to say, so we're turning this post over to her while we go take a nap. Take it away Mom:

Thank you Toby & Leia. You are very gracious, as always.

To our furriends in the CB:

I've been a follower of the icanhazcheezburger site almost since it got started. What I loved most about it was that I never, ever had to worry about what I'd see. It was cute, sweet, funny, and at worst, extremely snarky.

But I guess in the way of all things that get big and successful, the quality starts to slip. Over the last few months, the pictures and video clips have slowly become less sweet, with more adult humor. That has its place but not on what should have been a family friendly site. Much worse, there are hints of cruelty popping up repeatedly, especially in the video clips. Now, I can no longer be sure that it's a safe site, that what I will see is good.

Today was the last straw: they have a video clip of two cats playing Jedi. Cute, until I realized that their PAWS WERE TAPED TOGETHER. I have to wonder how much trauma they suffered over that. Will they trust humans again? What else was done to them in the name of entertainment? (Oh, and one of them looks to be suffering from a bad eye infection).

So I've made the painful decision not to visit there anymore. I know most of the material is still good to look at, but clearly, the editors and Powers that Be there have lost their concern for animals, especially cats. And frankly, I love cats (especially mine) more than almost anything on this earth. I refuse to continue supporting what they are doing with my page clicks.

One of the things I luff best about my Mom is how much she appreciates what I do. Like today - we were both walking across the floor, and suddenly I just plopped down, right in front of her. It was probably my very best suddenly-cat-turns-to-liquid performance EVER!

Of course, she totally wasn't expecting it, and stumbled right over me. Almost hit the wall, too. I forgave her for nearly stomping all over me, because that's just how I am. Big of heart, y'know? And she tells me how great that was, how much she appreciated it! Even rated my liquid-ness as Olympic-caliber! Is that cool or what?

Furriends, you will not believe what happened today! It was horrifying! Our Mom - our beloved, kind Mom - ATTACKED our nip hamster. Right in front of us!

She looked at it closely, and saw it was having some issues with an eye. Hanging by a thread, she says. Can't risk us pulling it out completely and swallowing it, she says. So out comes the scissors. Snip snip, eye gone.

But do you think she stopped there? Was she content with this act of nipster abuse? NO! She decided to be - what did she call it - "proactive" and removed the OTHER eye. Then the ears. Both ears!

It was terrible. Here you see me consoling the poor nipster she got to. She says she's gonna snip snip on the other one when she finds it. (Shhhhh: I'm laying on the other one, to protect it. Don't tell her!)

When we lived in the other house, I had my very own special place in the living room. I went there when I wanted alone time. This new home is a bit smaller than the others, so I don't have as many choices but I did find this place.

Best of all, nobody bugs me here. Mom put the pillow here so I'd have something to cuddle with, but so far I've resisted other efforts to change it. I think that bugs her a bit - y'know how Moms are, always wanting to make things better - but I'm very happy with it.

Last night we had awful storms. Lots of rain, thunder boomies, sky flashes, and hail. (Mom had to 'splain what hail was.) Seemed to last forever! We've been taking care of our Mom this week. She's had a rough one - something about her car being all borked. "Timing belt broke... chain reaction of damage... bent engine valves.." We dunno what all that means, but she says it means a lot of green papers to fix, and having to ask for a lot of rides for a week or so from friends and co workers. So we've been doing a lot of purring and hanging out with her so she feels better. She says it helps her a lot.

Last night I treated everyone to a major Toy Tossing Exhibition. I used my fav nip squirrel - it went straight up! Y'all should have seen the air I caught with that puppy.

Good morning, furriends! It's a beautiful day here so far, lovely breezes coming through the screens. We hope yours is too.

My Mom has this thing she does - she rates my yawns! Is that odd or what? She says I have a flip top head when I yawn, and she gets a big kick out of watching me. Mostly I do well - I get an 8 or 9 usually. Sometimes I do a little half yawn, that's about a 4, and occasionally I'll meow and it turns into a yawn. That gets higher marks cuz of the degree of difficulty, she says.

Yep, only thing to do when you live with such a person is just ...go nap. :)

Leia Won't Come Out on Monday Either

Something is upsetting my girl, but I have no idea what. Toby is completely unconcerned; for him it's all business as usual. This all started Saturday night or early Sunday morning. She simply won't come out into the living room. She'll go as far as the first few inches of carpet, then stop and look around like it's really scary in there.

Problem is - she has to cross the living room carpet to get to all the kitteh facilities. I thought need would eventually drive her out, and I could see she was feeling the need - but she still wouldn't cross the carpet. So I gave in late yesterday and brought the facilities to her.

I wouldn't be as concerned if she was still adjusting to the new house. Everything was fine and then yesterday happened. I do see signs she's improving; she came to me repeatedly last night for attention, and she's trying to paw aside the curtains to see outside. I hope in a day or two we'll get past this.

The beautiful diva Praline, our very good furriend, has gone on to the Bridge. We're all very sad here. She has been such a regular visitor to our little corner of the CB, and it's very strange to think we won't see her again. We knew it was coming, but we're a bit stunned anyway.

Mom said we're almost to Moving Day - it will be the last Caturday of this month. We're not sure how long that is; we think it's maybe elebenty days away. She has to go buy a second kitteh carrier too this weekend. (We gave our second away awhile ago, and she just got too lazy to replace it before now).

Furriends, don't you just hate it when Mom (or Dad) interrupts you? Seriously, when we're having a conference, chasing bugs (or bits of grass or whatever) or doing other impawtant work, seems like Mom is always coming around wanting to see what we're up to.

Then we have to stop and give her that special blank, patient kitteh stare that says, "We're busy, go play on your own for awhile".

Really. Can't leave her alone for five whole minutes! Worse than kitten-tots, hoomins are.

In general, we aren't big fans of snakes in this house. I mean, we'd be glad to extend the tooth.. uhhh... we mean paw of friendship to our slithery co-creatures, but Mom gets all squealy and fainty at the thought of being around them, much less having them IN the house. And something that can kill within 15 mins? Yeah... not going over well.

Mom has always had lots of "pet" names for us... Angel Bug, the Great Orange One, Baby Boo (seriously, Mom?) And mostly we've just rolled our eyes and sighed a lot, because, really, what can one do with their silly hoomins? But this week she gave me a new one, and I actually really do like it:

The Grey Lady.

She said it's because I'm elegant, and beautiful, and very much a lady. So... yeah... I think I'll keep that name. I mean, what's not to luff about that? And it's all so true.

(But Mom? GET RID of BABY BOO!!!)

The Paw of Toby

Mine is a busy, multi-talented paw. It excels at many things - batting bits of kibble around, bringing it to various bug life and smacking Leia occasionally when she gets in the mood to put the bitey on me.

But nothing gives me quite the same thrill as sneaking it in my Mom's mouth. Watching her go EWWWW and get all gag-gy is great fun. Best time is always when she's mostly asleep.

Our hearts go out to the people of Japan, but especially to the animals there. We can't help wondering how the residents of the cat cafes are doing.

I'm a girl who likes her special things. But not everything is special - like this squirrel. The one on the left is my very most special-ist nip squirrel ever. We've had many, many good times together. And my Mom understands this. She keeps trying to get me interested in the *other* one, but she knows my fav and always makes sure it's available for me.
