We've put aside - temporarily! - our kibble investigation to assume our emergency nursing duty hats.
And like the good kittehs we are, we sprang right into action, too.
On Caturday afternoon, Mom tore her calf muscle. She was doing that thing hoomins call "exercise". We were asleep, but we're told she lunged forward on the contraption below and POP went the muscle. She said it was like the fleshy version of tearing paper.
She hobbled off to the people Stabby Place where the people vet said "not your lucky day!"
Treatment - 6 weeks of wearing a fracture boot or the bandage below if she can't get a boot, Motrin, special exercises (haven't you learned your lesson on that one?), ice, elevation. And, trust us, a fair amount of HBO words when she moves wrong.
There is also a lot of general crankiness.
Not to worry, we will do our best to take good care of her.
With all our combined hearts, we wish all our furriends
and their families a BETTER week ahead than our weekend turned out to be.

Oh no! Your poor mom! But at least she has two great nurses taking care of her. We hope she heals quickly.
ReplyDeleteOUCH! That sounds terrible. We are so sorry your Mom got hurt. Please take good care of her, Toby and Leia.
ReplyDeleteHugs, and healing purrs and prayers!
Oh, that is a BIG bummer for your human! I'm sending her healing purrs because having to recover from something like that is SO not fun.
ReplyDeleteOh my, ouchie! I'm so sorry your mom got injured. It sounds so painful :-( I know you two take very good care of her. Lots of purrs and furs will speed up the healing for sure!

Sorry to hear the news! I just hurt my hip running so I know what you mean -- and I bet my cats are showing me as much sympathy as yours are you!
ReplyDeleteOMC, OMC! Is she still able to FEED you?? You'd better help her get better soon!
ReplyDeleteOur mom has the exact same contraption and we made her put it out in the garage. Not that she ever used it for longer than like a minute.
We DO feel sorry fer yer Mom! But our TBT is not an exercizer. He just injures hisself staying busy in the yard. That way, the insurance forms arent so embarassing. MOL!
ReplyDeleteExercise is not always good for you. Fortunately cats do not need to worry as much as humans. We can rest and exercise how we want and still have good muscles.
ReplyDeleteSometimes I really wonder 'bout peeps. I mean, isn't exercizin' supposed to make 'em HEALTHIER?
ReplyDeleteI sure do hope your Mom feels lots better, soon. I'll send some healin' purrs her way, for sure. PURRS.
Guys, give your mom an extra kitty hug from my mom. I am so so sorry and so is she that your mom is going through this. Hugs and purrs to her till she is all better. xxxx
ReplyDeleteOwww. That's painful to imagine! I'm glad you two are there to take care of her ... it's a very important job. We're sending our love to all three of you.
ReplyDeleteOh no, oh no, oh NO!!!!! Your poor mom!!! Take good care of her. It's a good thing there are two of you -- we know how hard humans are to care for.
ReplyDeleteWe hope your mom feels better VERY soon!
Yours sincerely,
Margaret Thatcher
Well that sucks! Dad gets his fair share of such things now and then what with being hundreds of years old and all (he's no one to make fun of my age). Hope you feel better real soon!
ReplyDeleteOh My!!! Poor momma!! Sending purrs she will be better soon, which I am sure she will be with your tender care!! xxx
