The Aliens Did It.....

We have an impawtant public announcement to make!

Everybody know Sammy, the Meezer? Well, clearly he's become too good at knowing the aliens' secrets, cuz they did something to him! Something MEAN! He has a poor, hurty mouth now, and we're convinced it's on account of them.

But maybe not... either way, he's gotta go to the Stabby Place next week for some dental surgery. And his the Mom could sure use a few extra green papers to help them get through this. So if you have any to spare, there's a Tip Jar on their blog. If not, purrayers would certainly be very welcome too.

Thanks, furriends. You're all good eggs. Which is a bit odd since you're kittehs but...

Uh Oh

Toby, Toby, Toby (shakes head sadly).
You're in trouble AGAIN. What did he do, you ask? I'll tell you...

He JUMPED ON THE STOVE this morning.
Happily it was off and cold but can you imagine if it wasn't?

Why? He wanted the Mom's attention and
she was wrestling with the garbage can. He's an impatient Orange Cat, for sure.

Anyway, she got very upset and scolded him, and he
went off and sulked for awhile.

Reporting to you live -
the good kitteh,

T.S. Eliot "The Naming of Cats"

The Naming of Cats is a difficult matter,
It isn't just one of your holiday games;
You may think at first I'm as mad as a hatter
When I tell you, a cat must have THREE DIFFERENT NAMES.

First of all, there's the name that the family use daily,
Such as Peter, Augustus, Alonzo or James,
Such as Victor or Jonathan, George or Bill Bailey -
All of them sensible every day names.

There are fancier names if you think they sound sweeter,
Some for the gentlemen, some for the dames:
Such as Plato, Admetus, Electra, Demeter -
But all of them sensible everyday names.

But I tell you, a cat needs a name that's particular,
A name that's peculiar, and more dignified,
Else how can be keep up his tail perpendicular,
Or spread out his whiskers, or cherish his pride?

Of names of this kind, I can you a quorum,
Such as Munkustrap, Quaxo, or Coricopat,
Such as Bombalurina or else Jellylorum -
Names that never belong to more than one cat.

But above and beyond there's still one more name left over,
And that is the name that you never will guess;
The name that no human research can discover -
But THE CAT HIMSELF KNOWS, and will never confess.

When you notice a cat in profound meditation,
The reason, I tell you, is always the same:
His mind is engaged in a rapt contemplation
Of the thought, of the thought, of the thought of his name:
His ineffable effable
Deep and inscrutable singular Name.

The Princess on her Throne

Mom calls this my "Pillow Throne".
It's where I like to sleep on the big bed. It's a good spot;
I can see the door and keep watch on my
Mom and Toby while they sleep. And, of course, rule the rest of the house.

What Are We Doing This Weekend?

Well, we're doing this...

and this...

So we're having a good weekend. :)

PS: The CB's own beautiful Praline is having an auction to help her the Mom get green papers for her Stabby Place bills. There's also stuff you can buy outright. Our the Mom found something she really liked, so maybe you will too. Have a great weekend, furriends!

Flashback Friday

When I was just a bit smaller, I had a real luff for napping in the Hoomin Litter Box Room sink. It was purrfectly shaped, very cool and comfy. It's true I've gotten a bit bigger and can't really fit in the sink anymore, but that's ok. I still haz my memories. Good times, good times.

Wordless Wednesday

(This is also our entry into the Outstretched Paw Campaign).

Dear Furriends,

We are very much disturbed here at Chez Whiskeratti. Awhile back, Leia & I put our heads together and killed off the noisy beast our the Mom calls a "vacuum". It was a good day - no, a GREAT day for kitteh kind.

But now - she brought in a new noisy beast. How could she? It's going to take some doing to make this brand new noisy beast deaded, we think. So we're taking suggestions.

Unhappily yours-
Toby & Leia

Friday Flashback

We're looking back on Fridays and seeing where we were once upon a time.

Today, we're looking at proof positive that Leia was once bigger than I was.
(Mom says this is true. I still think it's a trick).

I admit she's about two months older than I am,
but I swear it's all angles and stuff.
(Biggify to get the full effect).

Here a Pepper, There a Pepper...

This is Pepper from PAWS, a privately funded, nonprofit, no-kill shelter in Norwalk, CT. Her people are trying to help her win a special contest for shelter kittehs. There are cool prizes, but they are especially hoping for the best prize of all: a Forever Home for this luffly girl! More info here.

She's doing very well so far, but more support is always good. Please go vote for this wonderful ladykitteh every day. Voting closes on June 21.

Go Pepper!!!

Two (Nip) Hamster Family. Again.

Well, finally our the Mom found the second nip hamster from Cat Faeries. Took her forever, though. And guess where it was? In the EXACT SAME place we pushed the other one into. You'd think she woulda looked there first, but no. She searched elebenty other places before that one.

We don't think she's all that bright, even for a hoomin, but we luff her anyways.

Kitteh. Inna Sink

I've never been much of a sink girl. Oh, I luff to hang out on the edge and drink from the faucet, sure, but otherwise... never had a need to go deeper.

But here I am! I recently discovered how much fun it can be to just sit inna sink and contemplate the world. Toby used to spend a lot of time lounging in the bathroom sink when he was *a lot* smaller but he never did the kitchen sink thing.

I'm a trendsetter here. Who knew? :)

PS: Vote Pepper!!!!
