If you answered "AC going out in September" you win the grand prize.
The house HVAC decided it was going on vacation, and went.
Thankfully, my garage has a window unit AC that is still working quite well. Being that it was in the mid 80s with high humidity here, Miss Vina got brought into my room first. She was very much not pleased at the indignity of curtailed freedom. But with that thick coat... she didn't get a meow in this. The picture above was right after she sat in front of the door for about five minutes, expecting it to open. (That's a Publix store bag. She enjoys sitting on it).
However, she did settle in to sleep without too much fuss, making herself at home on the Tower o Boxes, on the highest box. Brekke eventually decided she'd had enough of the heat and humidity and came in too. Her mom was considering going to a hotel with B, and leaving V with me, as cats have more difficulty with residence changes. She decided to stay.
We hope the repairman will come today. He's been notified. I really hope it's just a fix and not an entire unit replacement.
Happy Labor Day!
Oh noes!

ReplyDeletethats like the furnace taking a break here in the winter....we hope it was something repairable and it got fixed today ~~~~~ ☺☺♥♥
ReplyDeleteYikes. That sounds horrible! We have our fingers and paws crossed that the AC gets fixed pronto.
ReplyDeleteHahaha. I saw all Vina's floof and thought the point was that no one wants a thick fur coat in Florida! She wears it well though. Hopefully air conditioning will work again soon.
ReplyDeleteOh NO! NO AC! Seriously, I lived in central Fl. for years...no ac. as we were too poor to have it But we grew used to it. I am glad Miss Vina is upstairs with you. Not a lot worse than listening to the dragging tick tocks of the clock while waiting for the repairman!!!
ReplyDeleteIn my 34 years here, the heat pumps have failed 3 times. All on a hot August day. My house was not built for windows of cross-venilation. It was built for insulation. When it is cold outside, it stays warm. But when it is warm, it stays that way and heats up.
ReplyDeleteIt's all the appliances. The refrigerator creates heat, the HDTV creats heat, the water heater creates heat, etc. The house doesn't cool down fast in Winter if the electricity fails but it sure heats up fast in Summer if the heat pump fails and everything else works.
I grew up before air-conditioning, and I hated it. When we first got it, I loved it. Now I can't live without it. I wilt at 80F...
Hope your repairman came! Poor babies! Oh the indignity of it all!
ReplyDeleteOh No I hope and purr by the time you see this email your a/c is humming. Nope it has been way too hot this year to have no a/c.
