Good morning! So when I said I would not be a foster fail, I meant it. There are several very good reasons why it's not a good idea.
May I present the newest member of my family, Lagniappe.
The petsitter and I made an arrangement. Technically the cat belongs to her; she will take her to the vet and pay for medical care. She will live with me and I will oversee her daily care, as I have been doing. This is a good arrangement, in fact the only workable one.
Lagniappe did go the vet on Monday. Bloodwork shows elevated liver values. Could be inflammation, could be cancer. She is on medication now, will recheck the liver in two weeks. If needed, an ultrasound. If it is cancer, our time together will be short, but she will know love and care with me, and a minimum of stress.
I've started a GoFundMe to help with expenses. The last thing I had in mind at this stage of my life was to adopt a cat, because it is expensive and I have difficulties of my own. All donations would be welcome; also, please share with your own social media if you are so inclined. I don't know that many people so my reach is limited.
I will hope for the very best for her, medically. I'm glad she'll stay with you for however long she has; it IS a good arrangement for all concerned. Good luck with the fundraising; I just had to pay over $1000 for Derry (emerg vet visit and then follow-up tests with our own vet), so can't contribute at the moment, but I hope others who can will be generous. Even a bit adds up, I know from personal experience. ♥ReplyDelete
I'm sorry both of you had that experience. I hope he will be just fine. Frankly high vet bills are precisely the reason I was not looking for another cat.Delete
Your heart is bigger than your wallet!ReplyDelete
I'll get a little something to you.
And thank you for your words of comfort for The PO'M; he leaves a big hole in our lives.
POM was wonderful and will always be a legend in the Cat Blogosphere, honestly. And my flat wallet was precisely why I had no plans to get another cat. But the Lord said here you are, so I said ok.Delete
We hope she will get a good report but we're glad that, no matter what, she has a loving home.ReplyDelete

I will be praying it is not cancer. You are an angel to help her. I will spread the word about the GoFund on my blog. XOReplyDelete
I really appreciate that.Delete
Sounds like Lagniappe is in the bestest hands. Hoping for good news from the vet in a couple of weeks.ReplyDelete
We send Lagniappe tons of purrs and prayers that it is just a virus, as can happen with cats, that pushed the levels up and it is not something serious. We made our Donations to the rescues we support this month but we ust paid our taxes and have a tiny bit left over. We remember you from the good old days!ReplyDelete
Angel Timmy and Dad Pete
Sure hope and pray all this will work out for the best.ReplyDelete
Lagniappe is very beautiful!
I somehow missed this post! :-( I'm glad you are taking care of Lagniappe, regardless of her status with you. I will try to share your gofundme on my FB at some point over the weekend.ReplyDelete
She's absolutely beautiful! What a lucky kitty to get to be livin' with you. PURRSReplyDelete
so happy to hear the news and it does sound like a smart arrangement. Hope Lagniappe gets good results for her vet visit!ReplyDelete
Lagniappe is beautiful, and it sounds like a good arrangement. We know you will give her so much love. Purring that she gets some good news from the vet. We donated a little, and hope it helps, if even just a little. Hugs.ReplyDelete
Thanks! We appreciate it.Delete
I missed the blog but here I am.ReplyDelete
And you are always welcome!!Delete
I am late visiting as I haven't been online much for the past 2 weeks, but am trying hard to catch up now. That sounds like a very good arrangement for Lagniappe. I hope the liver recheck gives better results.ReplyDelete
I have made a donation.
Thanks. We really appreciate it.Delete
She is a beauty and we know she will be happy staying with such a caring person. Do you happen to have a wishlist on Amazon?ReplyDelete
No, but I can create one.Delete
That would be excellent. We support an old cat home when we shop there, so two plusses!Delete
(They mean June's Senior Cat Rescue. ~Mom.)

Just a few options to choose from. I am still learning what she likes. Thanks!
Well, as it turns out, I can't figure out how this works. It looks like the order was going to be shipped to me even though I'm using your list. :-( I'll try to figure this out tomorrow.Delete
Never used this before, but I think I fixed it on my end. I had to check a box.Delete
It worked! Expect a package on Tuesday, August 24!Delete
Awesome! Thanks so much from both of us.Delete
Sending lots of purrs and hugs to your sweet Tuxie girl and you,ReplyDelete
Sending purrs for Lagniappe. Sounds like she has two great moms!ReplyDelete
