Not EXACTLY A Fail

Good morning! So when I said I would not be a foster fail, I meant it. There are several very good reasons why it's not a good idea.

May I present the newest member of my family, Lagniappe.

The petsitter and I made an arrangement. Technically the cat belongs to her; she will take her to the vet and pay for medical care. She will live with me and I will oversee her daily care, as I have been doing. This is a good arrangement, in fact the only workable one.

Lagniappe did go the vet on Monday. Bloodwork shows elevated liver values. Could be inflammation, could be cancer. She is on medication now, will recheck the liver in two weeks. If needed, an ultrasound. If it is cancer, our time together will be short, but she will know love and care with me, and a minimum of stress.

I've started a GoFundMe to help with expenses. The last thing I had in mind at this stage of my life was to adopt a cat, because it is expensive and I have difficulties of my own. All donations would be welcome; also, please share with your own social media if you are so inclined. I don't know that many people so my reach is limited.

  1. I will hope for the very best for her, medically. I'm glad she'll stay with you for however long she has; it IS a good arrangement for all concerned. Good luck with the fundraising; I just had to pay over $1000 for Derry (emerg vet visit and then follow-up tests with our own vet), so can't contribute at the moment, but I hope others who can will be generous. Even a bit adds up, I know from personal experience. ♥

    1. I'm sorry both of you had that experience. I hope he will be just fine. Frankly high vet bills are precisely the reason I was not looking for another cat.

I'll get a little something to you.
And thank you for your words of comfort for The PO'M; he leaves a big hole in our lives.

    1. POM was wonderful and will always be a legend in the Cat Blogosphere, honestly. And my flat wallet was precisely why I had no plans to get another cat. But the Lord said here you are, so I said ok.

  8. We send Lagniappe tons of purrs and prayers that it is just a virus, as can happen with cats, that pushed the levels up and it is not something serious. We made our Donations to the rescues we support this month but we ust paid our taxes and have a tiny bit left over. We remember you from the good old days!

  13. Lagniappe is beautiful, and it sounds like a good arrangement. We know you will give her so much love. Purring that she gets some good news from the vet. We donated a little, and hope it helps, if even just a little. Hugs.

  14. I am late visiting as I haven't been online much for the past 2 weeks, but am trying hard to catch up now. That sounds like a very good arrangement for Lagniappe. I hope the liver recheck gives better results.
    I have made a donation.

    1. That would be excellent. We support an old cat home when we shop there, so two plusses!

    3. Well, as it turns out, I can't figure out how this works. It looks like the order was going to be shipped to me even though I'm using your list. :-( I'll try to figure this out tomorrow.
