A Whiskery Friday

At some point after I got Leia's pawprint cast, I started thinking it would have been nice to have something from them. Maybe it was just a stray thought born from my grief, but the next day, I found a whisker. And I was overjoyed.... From one of my beloved furriends, and naturally shed.

It took months of vacuuming before I found the second one, but as you see, I have one from each of them now. My little display is really just temporary for now. I'm hoping in the future I can hire an artist to create something lasting and beautiful.

  1. I purchased a ceramic box, just for spent whiskers. The hard part is placing identifying tags on them! And I cannot tell a Manny whisker from a CB one, so they are just labeled, "Da Boyz". I do NOT have a PO'M whisker yet. Hugs and purrs to you as you think about your angels.

  2. Most people don't understand, but those whiskers are treasures. I remember after Kitty died, I combed the house looking for her whiskers and claw sheathes. Usually, they are just a reminder of sharing one's life with a cat - but it's elevated after the kitty passes on.

  4. I treasure Admiral's whiskers; and the few I still had of Robin (she passed in 1998) went to one of my sons who loved her beyond the moon. Katie's are saved too. They are white, and hard to find on this light carpet. I usually find hers on the blanket, or on the wood floor in the kitchen. Each one is a treasure carefully saved as are everyone else's. I have some claw sheaths too.

  5. Finding a whisker is like finding valuable treasure. I have fur, whiskers and claw sheaths in a little wooden cat shaped box.I just wish I had saved their baby teeth when they were teething all those years ago.

  7. Very sweet indeed.

Oh, and in reading Eric and Flynn's mom's comment, our mom saved what she found of Eddie's baby teeth. Unfortunately, since she kept them in a jewelry box, all was lost when her house was robbed. Stupid burglar. He probably had no idea what they were or what they meant.

  9. TBT has a little green glass jar full of our whiskers. In fact, he says it is about time to post pictures of them. It has been several years...
