A Tail Would Have Been Better
This morning I step onto my patio to go to work. There was half a lizard laying on his back. Not just the tail, which they can regrow.... No, literally half a lizard. The poor lil guy looked like a shark victim from Jaws.
You will be glad I skipped the photo op.
Even better, I tried to sweep him off the porch and he.... Started.... Wiggling....
I was, and still am, thoroughly squicked out. I guess I should have dispatched him completely but I just couldn't.
So, why? Did my feral choose my patio for a snack and got bored with half? Was this a tip for the meal service I provide? I really hope this doesn't become a habit!
Happy Friday.

I too have had a half-dead animal left for me; thankfully, it was only once, and The PO'M got mad when I used a snow shovel to remove the corpse from the deck. He followed me, and brought the body BACK! The second time, I buried the body.
ReplyDeleteOhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh no....I hope this was not a gift...and most of all I hope it won't be one the keep on giving. Looks like Blackie got bored of the game.
ReplyDeleteHugs Cecilia
de other half waza snax for later on !!!! ;) ♥♥☺☺
ReplyDeleteEwww. But I guess a cat gets hungry ... still not pleasant to be confronted with a hurt or dead animal.
ReplyDeletePoor lizard. I bet it was a thank you gift for you.
ReplyDeleteI would have freaked out!
ReplyDeleteSorry, but this did make us laugh, probably because we knew what was coming!! We've never given our mom any gifts like that, but she said her family cat would leave mice at the back door...and they would look like apple cores!
ReplyDeleteLizard hunting are a favorite pastime here.
ReplyDeleteHere too...I'm a whiz, but only with tails. Don't tell Travis.
DeleteMy human is sitting here freaking out! Your pal just wanted to share his bounty, so I don't know why you humans are so upset.
ReplyDeleteIt won't be a habit. Rest easy. It was a random thing. xx
ReplyDeleteOh my. Yes, I think it was a gift. Thank you for not taking a photo!
ReplyDeleteOh goodness, mom would've freaked, but dad would probably had a good laugh.
ReplyDeleteUgh. Thank you for not sharing a photo of that poor little lizard. We do wonder if it was a thank you gift for your love and care.
ReplyDeleteI’m thinking it’s a gift for you! It’s a sweet gesture to let you have the half. But of course...some gift giving can be too much :-)
ReplyDeleteAmarula used to bring me lizards all the time when I lived in Africa!!
ReplyDeleteIt was a gift. Flynn rarely ate the mice he caught and alternated between giving them to me and Eric.
ReplyDeleteSometimes (OK, lots of times), when some critter seems to be in great distress, TBT just stomps it. A half a lizrd would count. Just today, he saw a bumblebee thrashing around on the grass. Nothing visible was attacking it, but it was going nuts. Parasite probably. He stomped it.
ReplyDeleteSometimes just "fast" is kindest.
