Dear Kitteh Next Door,

We don't know each other. Mom says you are a cute little cow kitteh.

But we're sorry - that your people thought it was ok to go off and leave you alone. For SEVEN DAYS. Apparently they just left you a big bowl of food and water, and one hopes, at the very least an extra facility.

We're sorry that they don't understand that we felines, as resilient and amazing as we are, really can't be left alone that long. And we're told you don't have a four footed companion; it was you and you alone. For seven days.

We're purrhaps sorriest of all for this - that your Mom didn't try harder to reach ours to ask if she would look after you. The gate guard just talked to your hoomin lady when they came back this afternoon; she "never saw our Mom" to ask her. They could have tried the novel approach of.. .knocking on the door.

Yes, we would have been outraged to have OUR Mom watch over another kitteh; she would have thought it a bit uncomfortable to be in the home of a stranger, but she would gladly have traded that for the days of anxiety over your wellbeing.

- Signed, the Kittehs Next Door to You.

Mom:
I came home Tuesday after work to see the cat pop up in their window, clearly looking for her/his people. When she saw I wasn't them, she walked away crying. It almost broke my heart. Soon I will go over and give them my number so they can call me if they go away again. They are young - old enough to buy a home and have two babies, but young enough to still be stupid like this.

  1. Oh, that makes me sick. Shouldn't have cats (pets), IMO, if they're that thoughtless and stupid about their poor cat's welfare. Wonder how they treat the babies. I don't care if they ARE young. I had ponies when I was 12 and was out at 5AM before school every day, taking care of them. Sheesh.

  3. Oh, how sad! Poor kitty. Even when my human was young and foolish (now she's not as young but still pretty foolish), she made sure somebody looked after her cat(s) if she was going to be gone longer than an overnight.

  4. Seriously, some humans can be so ignorant. Sheesh.

  5. Granny is a volunteer catsitter for the Dutch Cat Protection and she sees this all the time. Thank Cat at least some people call for help, when they're going out, but they don't want to spend to much money for them, so they ask only help for every other day and sometimes they leave for three weeks! Of course Granny takes care of them every day, with or without payment, she doesn't care. She cares about the cats, they are innocent and sometimes she asks the people if they don't care that the cat is alone and lonely for so long, but it seems that they don't care at all :(

Pawkisses for an eggstra Happy Easter and hope your Easter Bunny Day is filled with fun in every way :) <3

  6. That is so sad for the poor kitty. Being young is no excuse for their neglect. Whenever we have gone away we always arrange for someone to come in at least twice a day, three times if possible, but we still feel guilty about going.

  7. OH MY WORD MY MOM IS SPITTING AND TALKING LIKE SHE IS ON HBO!!
WHAT? HOW CAN ANYONE BE SO STUPID....THAT IS SO CRUEL.
MY MOM FEELS GUILTY IF THEY GO OUT TO SUPPER AND ARE JUST A FEW MINUTES LATE GIVING ME MINE. I CANNNNNOT IMAGINE LEAVING A CAT ALONE FOR THAT LONG. I HAVE A VERY NICE SITTER WHO COMES TO CHECK ON ME ANYTIME MY PEEPS ARE AWAY.
KUDOS TO YOU MOM FOR GOING BY TO LET THE FOLKS KNOW SHE IS AVAILABLE IF THEY NEED A SITTER. MOM WOULD HAVE TO BITE HER TONGUE TO KEEP FROM SAYING, 'what were you thinking'? OK mom is stepping off her soap box thank goodness cause the squealing is hurtin' my ears
    hugs madi your bfff

  8. Oh my gosh... THAT POOR KITTY! That was so very irresponsible of his or her peeps. I don't know what my Peep #1 would do if she was there. Chances are, IT WOULDN'T BE GOOD. There can be no excuse at all for behaviour like that. MOUSES!!!

  11. What the heck is wrong with some people? That makes us mad and sad, both at the same time. Thank you to your Mom for caring so much.
