So cute! I'm making Mom write on her work break about how she handles my arthritis. When I started showing sings of arthritis she took me to see the vet. The vet originally prescribed a pain killer called tramadol. However, my experience with that was not pleasant (I was loopy and drooling an awful lot) so they took me off of it. Mom also tried some other supplements for cats like glucosimine (cosequin brand). She didn't keep it up, though, because she didn't see any change...perhaps she should have? Some other things the Mom did was try to make things easier for me by making my food bowls a bit higher (not as much strain on my body) and heating pads. The heating pads were the kind you could warm up in the microwave for about 20 seconds. She usually only uses those in the colder months. Finally, she takes me to see the vet for help with grooming. I can only groom my face now. Mom tries to give me more brushes but sometimes I need a spa day! If she thinks of something else I will make her write you again. Purrs for Tobey.
Thank you so much for replying. Mom tried me on Tramadol first but like you, that just wasn't ok. Now we're on Depo shots but they seem to work well for about three weeks. We're also working on the Gluco stuff too. My warming blankie should be delivered tomorrow. It's a constant struggle, isn't it??
I haven't heard about Depo...perhaps I should ask the vet about this. Something else I remember is that last year I got Oscar a heated cat bed which he doesn't like. Emily does like it, though, so it wasn't a complete waste of money. Yes, it is a constant struggle. I worry he might try to jump some place, fall, and hurt himself. Good luck with the warming blankie. This sounds like something I would be interested in, too!
Wow--what the heck was going on in those first two pictures? I expected to see fur flyin' everywhere, but then y'all chilled out. Darn--I like flyin' fur, MOL! Have a great weekend!
